Barwani: ‘There is gold buried in your house, if it is not taken out, ghosts will harm our lives.’ Police has arrested a woman on Sunday who had duped people of gold and silver worth Rs. 4.5 lakhs by giving such threats. This incident took place in Pati of Barwani district. Police has arrested Chandni B, a resident of Sendhwa on Sunday.
Actually, Rajendra Solanki, a contractor who built houses in Pati, told that there were mental and physical problems in his house for many days. Chandni Bi came to my house on 2 June. She roamed around my house and told us that there are ghosts in your house and there is gold buried in the ground. She said that until the gold does not come out of the ground, you people will remain ill and there will be loss of life. For this, Puja will have to be done. Hearing this, the family members got scared and they allowed her to do the puja. She started the puja and said that give whatever gold is there in the house because gold will come out from this. Gradually, gold worth about Rs 4.50 lakh was given to her.
Worshiped 13 times
After giving the gold, she used to turn off the lights of the house. After some time, she used to tie the gold in a red cloth and hang it in any corner of the house. Along with this, she used to instruct that this bundle should not be opened. In this way, she performed puja 13 times in the house and every time she used to take some gold jewellery and allegedly hang it.
Warning given to family for Sona
15 days ago she demanded an iron box. After this she kept all the bags hanging in the house inside that box. She also put her own lock on it. After 5 days she came back and opened the lock of the box and kept some items in a bag and went away. She warned the family members not to open the box otherwise all the efforts will go waste.
Another case of religious conversion in MP, religious meetings were being held in tribal villages, this is how it was revealed
Police action
When on the afternoon of 20th September Chandni Bi’s family members called her and asked her to return the gold and silver jewellery kept in the box, Chandni Bi started showing reluctance in returning the jewellery and said that if the box is touched without performing a puja then the gold buried in the ground and the gold in the box will be destroyed. Pati police station in-charge Rohit Patidar told that when the iron box was opened due to suspicion, only grains and packets were found in it, no gold or silver. After this the police was informed. The police arrested Chandni and recovered the gold and silver.
