Florian Wirtz is likely to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
According to the learned “kicker”, the offensive player is said to have extended his contract with the reigning champions, which runs until 2027, at least another year.
By extending its working paper soon, Bayer 04 is trying to secure a good negotiating position in a potential transfer pocket in the future. By extending the contract, Simon Rolfes & Co. also determine the transfer details in the summer of 2026 – in Wirtz’s contract, which originally expired in 2027, they would risk leaving for a much lower transfer fee.

With his new contract, Wirtz himself is the only top earner for the double winner. According to “kicker”, the 21-year-old is set to become the first Bayer professional to collect a double-digit million sum annually.
Wirtz is said to have agreed to an early contract extension which happened not only for financial reasons, but also out of gratitude to the Leverkusen team. Ultimately they put a lot of faith in the German international and gave him ideal development opportunities to break into European football.
The extension means that the aggressive artist’s departure next summer is likely off the table. Recently there has been speculation that FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are flirting with a move.
