“There is absolutely no risk of new explosions in the fireworks warehouse, experts say. People were allowed to return to their homes. Still, there are residual explosions from the previous 5 warehouses, where the production is on the pallet at different levels, and therefore residual explosions are heard for some time, but their intensity is extremely rare”. This was stated by the mayor of Elin Pelin, Ivaylo Simeonov.
The state of emergency in this area remains in force because the rules and regulations prescribed for such a situation are being followed. There is a rule according to which sappers can enter the field no earlier than 24 hours after the last explosion, he explained.
“About 7 houses were damaged by the blast wave. The inspection continues and their number will grow. There are complaints about fallen plaster, some also talk about cracked walls, which I don’t know if this is the case, but experts need to give their opinion so that receives distortion of information about this incident,” said Simeonov.
“After the inspection, the documents will be handed over to the Commission for Disasters and Accidents, which until now has always assisted the victims in the respective regions,” the mayor of Elin Pelin told NOVA.
He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. “This facility is of a very high level of security and authorization, and permits, all through the state, through DNSK, through the Ministry. What we as a municipality can do is only to help, but we have no jurisdiction,” said Ivaylo Simeonov.
