Around the world, tens of millions of workers care for our homes and families.
The care they provide in our homes is not only vital. It forms the very foundation of our collective well-being, our health, our lives, our families, and even our economies.
Yet too often, their work remains unrecognized, unappreciated, and unprotected.
On this International Day of Domestic Workers I urge all countries to ratify the Agreement number 189 of the World Labor Organization on domestic workers.
I urge you to take steps to ensure that these people are not left out of employment and social security and assistance laws.
There is no social justice without decent work for those who are the foundation of a solidary society.
They care about us, now it’s our turn, their well-being must be a priority.
