Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that significant progress has been made in the process of defining the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Armenian news agency ARMENPRESS reported.

“This movement is expressed in the fact that the commissions for determining the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a regulation on joint activity,” Pashinyan said at the Yerevan Dialogue forum. “This regulation contains what the parties announced in their statement in April after the eighth meeting of the commissions,” he added.

“This means that the Alma Ata Agreements of 1991 are envisaged as the basic principle of the border determination process and it is envisaged that the parties will be guided by the agreements in question.” The regulation is currently undergoing internal procedures in both countries.

“I am sure that we will do our best here in Armenia to finalize the agreement. Our government has accepted the draft (of the regulation) and sent it to the Constitutional Court to check to what extent it complies with the constitution,” he added, referring to the internal procedure by ratification, writes BTA.
