A young woman resident of Tel Aviv was about to fall with her car into the sinkhole, but managed to escape at the last second: “I was concentrating on driving, there was one crazy boom when I fell into the sinkhole, and the second when I was able to continue on” • The vehicle she was driving was destroyed and now she suffers from back pain: “At least I got out of it in a miracle

The ascent to Derech HaShalom on Route 20 has not yet opened since the formation of the sinkhole last Saturday. The Ayalon Routes company is still waiting for final tests.

From a document published for the first time in Israel Hayom, a car belonging to a young woman from Tel Aviv was seen being rescued at the last second from the sinkhole. The vehicle is still disabled and the driver is in pain as a result of the blow to her back.

“Right at the beginning of the ascent to the peace road, I was focused on driving. It’s impossible to explain it, but there was one crazy boom when I fell into the pit and the second when I was able to continue on,” Nir described.

According to her, “I almost collided with the wall on the right and broke the steering wheel to the left. Luckily the road was empty, I put on 4 lights, I didn’t understand what was happening, I stopped and got out of the car, I thought maybe someone had gotten into me and when I saw the sinkhole I said: ‘Oh my God, I was supposed to die.’ The drivers shouted at me to get off the road.”

She added: “I have back pain and the car broke down, but at least I got out of it with a miracle. I haven’t driven a car since and it will take me a while to get back to it. It seems to me that it is better to fly and not drive on the roads.”
