The Minister of Energy and Mines (e), Roberto Luque, announced in his tenth press conference from the Zonal Government of Guayaquil that there will be no power outages during the week of May 6 to 12, 2024.
This decision is due to the favorable conditions that the country presents, including the improvement in rainfall, the recovery of the thermoelectric park and the purchase of electricity from Colombia. Luque highlighted that the high rainfall in Azuay has improved the flow in Mazar, which has contributed to the positive outlook.
Furthermore, regarding Minister Luque’s call to the Assembly to discuss oversight issues in the energy sector, it has been proposed to defer his attendance for later days, prioritizing the agenda of the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, who plans to visit some power plants. of generation in the coming days.
However, Luque pointed out that the energy problem at Termogas Machala continues to be a critical point in terms of efficiency. Alternatives are being considered, such as importing gas to operate turbines and using diesel temporarily.
Despite the good news about the hydraulic projection and the absence of outages this week, the Ministry of Energy and Mines emphasized that they continue to work on measures to guarantee a stable and efficient energy supply in the country.
