The YouTube app on Android has a new Play something button that, when clicked, launches random videos. This was reported by the 9to5Google portal, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

The button is located in the lower right corner above the bottom bar of the YouTube Android app. Clicking it launches the video in a vertical interface, similar to YouTube Shorts. The feature is designed for viewing regular videos, providing the ability to like and dislike, write comments on the side and use the timeline slider at the bottom of the video.

The button disappears when the mini-player is activated – a smaller version of the platform’s video player. The content selected by the function is selected by algorithms based on the user’s browsing history and preferences.

The Play something button was discovered in the YouTube Android app version 19.50. At the moment, the innovation is at the testing stage, and the timing of its public release has not yet been disclosed. It is also unknown whether the button will appear in applications for other platforms and the web version.
