The Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) announced this Sunday the nominees for the 38th delivery of the Soberano 2022 Awards and among the novelties are four new categories.
For the first time, the work of actresses and actors who fly the Dominican flag in Hollywood and other international industries will be awarded in the Actor and/or Actress Abroad section.
This year, this category features a select group of talents with an established track record such as Zoé Saldaña –one of the most important Latina actresses in Hollywood–, as well as Juani Feliz, Dasha Polanco, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., and Mario Peguero.
Emelyn Baldera, president of Acroarte, stressed that this new category has a representation of Dominican talents that are strong in the competitive world of cinema and television series.
“It was time to open a space for these talented figures who decided to leave with the interest of raising our flag, thanks to their determined desire to succeed in acting in the most competitive industry in the world.”
In addition, Acroarte enabled three other categories that show a robust selection of new talents, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to welcome artists who inspire new generations.
“These nominees represent the example of enterprising artists, who stomped on stage or in the media, to demonstrate that quality projects can be launched in each of their fields, and we are proud to have them for the first time in the most important award that we have given in the country since 1985,” said journalist Baldera enthusiastically.
New faces in the new categories: Acroarte included the Stand Up Comedy section, a challenging trade in which young people with a unique talent have emerged on stage; among which are nominated Starlyn Ramírez, Orlando Toribio (El Pío), Fernando Pucheu and Elías Serulle.
The same is true of the Podcast of the Year category, a segment of communication that in recent years has resulted in a diversity of specialized proposals that embody the evolution of this art, for which they were nominated on this first occasion A sigún de Carlos Sánchez, Gustavo Yunén’s Heavy Weights, Tell the El Panda Podcast that He’s Walking. Also for this edition of Soberano Awards the line Revista Radial de varieties was rehabilitated, without a doubt, a field that has an offer of great incidence in all audiences, in which El Mañanero by Bolívar Valera, El Mismo Golpe by Jochy Santos, This is not Radio by Alofoke Media Group, Solo para Mujeres by Zoila Luna were nominated. and complete the list of nominees for this category 12 and 2 from Karina Larrauri and Sergio Carlo.
Among the categories rehabilitated for competition are Research Program, Revelation of the Year and Song of the Year, the latter bringing new names to the award ceremony.
Among the songs nominated on this occasion are Vestida de flores by Manerra, Palante by Diego Jaar, Desde mis ojos by Chris Lebrón, Constelación de lunares by Christian Alexis and Camino al sol by Vicente García.
The nominees for the 38th edition of the awards are the result of the assemblies held last weekend at Acroarte, a selection of the best of what we do, from hundreds of proposals that were registered by artists from the cinema, theater, communication, radio, music and digital productions. The winners will be announced at a ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at the National Theater, under the artistic production of Alberto Zayas.
More than 200 nominees distributed in four lines in 51 categories will be recognized on this occasion corresponding to the most important work in 2022.
