Three weeks after the victory in the elections, in the last few hours there was a breakthrough in the right-wing bloc regarding the identity of the cases that will be held by Shas, Torah Judaism and religious Zionism.
In the last week, a rift has emerged between religious Zionism and Likud, due to Bezalel Smotrich’s demand to receive the security portfolio or the treasury portfolio that was promised to Derai. Now the formula has been found that will allow everyone to come out with most of their demands on the way to the establishment of the sixth Netanyahu government.
According to the report of News 12 reporter Dafna Lial, religious Zionism will receive two portfolios: the Treasury for Smotrich and another ministerial position in the Ministry of Defense. Shas will receive three files: the interior file for Aryeh Deri, religious veterans and Negev Galil, for Shas Knesset members.
Otzma Yehudit will receive the internal security portfolio to Itamar Ben Gabir, and the agriculture portfolio instead of the Negev and the Galilee.
The breakthrough comes after this morning it was reported that the chairman of Religious Zionism, Bezalel Smotrich, offers another compromise that will pave the way for the establishment of Netanyahu’s sixth government.
According to Ze’ev Kam’s report on Kan Reshet B, Smotrich conveyed to the Likud a message that he is ready to give up the Ministry of Defense, in exchange for receiving the Ministry of Finance with extensive powers.
The powers that Smotrich is talking about are the responsibility and authority over the management of the civilian life of the Israelis in Judea and Samaria, among them the coordination unit of government operations in the territories, the civil administration unit and the responsibility for enforcement in the open territories.
