With this in mind, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste) offered a tour of the place where its new High Specialty Regional Hospital is being built in Torreón, Coahuila.
The Director General of the Institution, Pedro ZentenoHe said that there are currently nine hospitals in different stages of progress throughout the country. He also mentioned that comprehensive rehabilitation and equipment work is being carried out at the three levels of care, with 42,000 new pieces of equipment between ambulances, CT scanners, mastographs, C-arms, resonators, X-rays, dental equipment, supply of medicines, furniture, uniforms, hospital and operating room clothing.
“The priority is the health of the entitlement. For this reason, we are focused on having units with state-of-the-art technology and specialized medical services such as oncology and hemodynamics, so that they are our own and end up with the subrogation of services”.
Progress of all construction works
The head of ISSSTE recalled that, in addition to the Torreón, Coahuila HR, which registers 28 percent progress with 8,202 square meters of poured slab, there is the Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, with 23 percent progress and 17,000 m2 of slab, and the one that will begin its construction in Acapulco, Guerrero in August; the General Hospital (HG) of Tampico, Tamaulipas, with 23 percent advance; and the Hospital Clinics (CH) of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, with 25 percent and 2,362 m2 of slab, and the one in Palenque, Chiapas, with 17 percent. They are all progressing on time and in proper form, and will be up and running in the first quarter of 2024.
He explained that the ISSSTE Torreón Regional Hospital will offer 36 services in different specialties, including hemodynamics and oncology. He also said that it will have state-of-the-art equipment such as a magnetic resonator and a linear accelerator. For this reason, it will allow caring for cancer patients from the states of Coahuila, Chihuahua, Durango and part of Zacatecas.
