The educational institutions that requested the suspension of classes are seeking to avoid possible acts of violence.

The Ministry of Education reported that a series of high schools and educational establishments in the Metropolitan Region They requested the Suspension of classes for this Wednesday, September 11 and prevent potential acts of violence.

In the case of the Education Department of the Municipality of Santiagothe Metropolitan Seremi authorized the suspension of classes for the following establishments:

  • National Institute High School
  • Javiera Carrera High School 1
  • Swiss Confederation Lyceum
  • Manuel Barros Borgoño High School
  • Application Lyceum
  • Barros Arana National Boarding School

For its part, the Social Development Corporation of the Municipality of Providencia decided that the suspended classes be replicated in the following schools:

  • Jose Victorino Lastarria High School
  • Providencia High School 7
  • Carmela Carvajal High School
  • Tajamar High School

Undersecretary of Education, Alejandra Arratia, stated that “as a Government, we are committed to safeguarding the right to education of all children and adolescents in the country. To do so, it is crucial to guarantee the continuity of their educational paths.”

The authority also added that “regarding the suspension of classes, as we have pointed out on other occasions, this must be an exceptional measure, which must be taken with great caution, great care and always considering the recovery of classes.”
