The hiring policy for business leaders has evolved in recent years.

Pension reform after pension reform, the employment rate of French people over 55 is increasing. It is now at its highest since the 1970s, with 56.9% of 55-64 year olds in the workforce in 2022. Nevertheless, and despite positive dynamics, the issue of senior employment remains problematic. Because France remains well below the European average, and far from some of its European neighbors, notably falling 20 points behind Germany.

«These figures are the result of a French cultural particularity which attaches stereotypes to seniors. Stereotypes that are difficult to break free from», explains Caroline Young, founder of Experconnect, a company which promotes post-retirement collaborations, particularly in the industrial sector.
