French start-ups are spoiled for choice when it comes to raising funds. Of course, they can turn to Bpifrance and venture capital funds, but also business angels, “corporate venture” funds (risk capital branches of large companies) and family offices.

According to data collected by the Kickston investment bank for “Les Echos”, more than 70 family offices have actively invested in French Tech over the last two years, out of the 90 listed. Among the most active, we find (unsurprisingly) Kima Ventures, the structure of Xavier Niel which invests in two start-ups per week, with a ticket of 150,000 euros. This strategy called “spray and pray” consists of multiplying investments, in the hope of ending up with one or more successes.
