According to the amendments made to the Tax Code, tourists using medical services in Azerbaijan will be able to receive the full value added tax (VAT) they paid.
As Day.Az reported on Thursday, a member of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, an economist, wrote about this on his account on the social network Facebook Vugar Bayramov.
He noted that foreigners and stateless persons are provided with a refund of the entire amount of VAT in tax-free mode, paid by bank transfer for medical services provided to them.
“The main goal of the changes is to provide tax benefits for medical tourism. This means that if a tourist in Azerbaijan uses medical services, he will be able to return the VAT paid when leaving the country.
This change may, at the same time, increase the income of medical institutions. After all, it is possible that after it the demand of tourists for medical services will increase. This means more income for the healthcare sector. This could also create an incentive to further improve quality in the healthcare sector.
It is expected that the change will come into force next month,” V. Bayramov emphasized.
