The pandemic has changed our society forever, we are still seeing its effects that we will be more aware of in the coming years. But it has not only altered how we behave with our environment, but also the way in which we relate to work and the company. The United States has always been a crystal ball for the rest of the world, what happens in the big American technology companies will end up reaching Spain sooner or later, not with the same intensity, but it will at some point. From ‘the great resignation’, where millions of people left their jobs where they had been for years, just after confinement, to work in a hybrid format.

This new hybrid work scenario, or totally remote, poses new challenges for both workers and companies.

On the one hand, they have been forced to reconvert or reduce the space, now underused, with shared tables in rotation, and computer equipment that allows a comfortable but mobile and easy to connect space.

Razer, a well-known company dedicated to the manufacture of peripherals and computers for gamers, has created a series of devices that are ideal for improving the connectivity of the laptop. And it is that those computers where lightness prevails usually have only a few ports available. That, with Razer’s tools, is no longer the case.

Laptop Stand Chroma V2

The first device we have tested is the Laptop Stand Chroma V2, a small stand that raises the laptop a few centimeters to allow air to circulate and cool better, especially on these summer days, and as an addition, it leaves more space on the table. The construction is solid, without moving parts, which is appreciated, and it is made of resistant aluminum.

The stand tilts the laptop 18 degrees, but still allows for comfortable typing from the keyboard, making the position more ideal for working by slightly raising the screen and tilting the keyboard. On the back it has five ports, two USB 3.2 type A, two USB type C, which also allow charging, and an HDMI, to connect up to two monitors in QHD, one through HDMI, and another through USB-C , or just one with a 5K monitor. We can not forget the RGB lighting, quite discreet, which can be synchronized with the rest of the Razer devices. It does not include a charger, and the current is obtained directly from the laptop.

THundredbolt 4 Dock Chroma

The second device is a dock Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chromawhich can either complete the Stand Chroma V2, or it can work on its own to multiply the ports of our laptop by 10. The Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma is one of the most professional solutions on the market, even if we want to connect an eGPU or graphics card external, or multiple monitors, this dock is capable of supporting just about anything.

We have four Thunderbolt 4 USB4 ports, three USB Type A ports, an Ethernet port, a 3.5mm Audio jack and an SD card reader, in case we want to add some storage space. In addition, it is capable of charging the laptop at 90W, enough for any laptop. This dock has nothing to do with the ports that the Chroma V2 Stand has, here we are talking about transfers of up to 40 gigabytes per second, while the stand is at 5 gigabytes per second, the difference is made by Thunderbolt 4, the most fast for a computer. It also has RGB lighting that points downwards, and that gives a design touch to the dock.

Razer USB-C 130W GaN Charger

Finally, we have tested the USB-C 130W GaN Charger, which has four ports, two USB type A and two USB type C. In just a few weeks, it has become our favorite accessory to charge our computer and mobile phone. Since with the amount of watts it offers, it is capable of charging at full speed as many devices as we want to connect.

The 130 watts are combined between the four ports, that is, a single device will never charge at that power. But most of the USB chargers on the market are far from this figure, and if we want to charge a computer and some other device that requires power, this is your charger. Of course, all those watts come in a weight of 283 grams, in a block that feels dense and heavy, it is not suitable for carrying it in a pocket. Razer has reached these charging levels thanks to a new material, GaN or gallium nitrite, which is used instead of silicon.

The two USB-C ports can each give 100W, but if we use both the power is divided in half, more than enough to charge any laptop, and the USB-A provide 18W, enough to charge the mobile, but also shared between the two ports. To get an idea, we could perfectly charge two laptops and two mobile phones with this GaN Charger. Razer has also included a two-meter USB-C cable of very good quality, which is appreciated.

The final surprise has been the application Razer Central, which includes Synapse with which we can control the lights of the Laptop Stand Chroma V2 and the Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma, so that they are synchronized and even work with compatible games, perfect for creating atmosphere. But also, Razer Cortex, which, even if you are not a gamer, optimizes the performance of the computer, clearing RAM and eliminating unnecessary processes.
