jpnn.comJAKARTA – Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo supports the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Wahid Hasyim University Semarang, with Perwira University Purbalingga, and the Faculty of Law, Social Sciences and Political Sciences of the Open University.
The collaboration is expected to improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
According to Bamsoet, cooperation by building synergy and collaboration between higher education entities has become a necessity, amidst the increasingly complex challenges in the world of higher education.
“I hope that the signing of the MoU today is not only symbolic, but becomes a focal point and important momentum for the three universities to jointly improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia,” said Bamsoet after witnessing online the signing of the MoU between Wahid Hasyim University Semarang, with Perwira University Purbalingga, and the Faculty of Law, Social Sciences and Political Sciences of the Open University at Wahid Hasyim University Semarang, Monday (26/8).
Present among others were Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party Faction Mujib Rohmat, Member of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council Abdul Kholik, Deputy for the Study and Socialization of the Constitution of the MPR RI Hentoro Cahyono, Chancellor of Wahid Hasyim University Mudzakir Ali, Chancellor of Perwira Purbalingga University Eming Sudiana, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Wahid Hasyim University Agus Riyanto and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences of the Open University Meita Istianda.
The 20th Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives explained that currently there are still several challenges emerging in the world of education in the country.
Among them is the still low gross participation rate of high school graduates who continue their education to tertiary level, which is still in the range of 30 to 40 percent.
Access to education, including higher education, should be able to reach as widely as possible the needs of the knowledge-seeking community. Because, “enlightening the life of the nation” is one of the goals of the state, as mandated by the Constitution.
