The UGT, as the majority union, and the employer have reached an agreement to sign the new agreement for metal workers in the Girona regions. un agreement that contemplates the 9% increase in wages in the next two years. Specifically, the first increase will be 4% this 2023, without companies being able to compensate or absorb the benefits paid by workers. Union sources emphasize that this was one of the important points, so that the salary increase was “effective”. In addition, this year’s increase will be retroactive to January 1. The second salary increase will be 2.5% also without compensation or absorption, in this case for salaries equal to or less than 28,000 euros.
The last increase will be in 2025 and also by 2.5%. Besides, it is planned a technical review of a maximum of 1.5% of salariesin the event that inflation exceeds 9% during the term of the agreement that ends in December 2025. On the other hand, it must be taken into account that the new agreement contemplates, beyond the salary increase, advances in other areas such as the right to digital disconnectionin relation to cases of sexual harassment or en hiring people with disabilitiesothers.
The signing of the new agreement will take place next Monday, November 20 and will be in effect until December 31, 2025 and will be extended automatically, in the event that neither party expressly denounces it.
