An initiative committee organized the construction of a monument to the football legend from the USA ’94 Trifon Ivanov in front of the stadium in Veliko Tarnovo, Nova TV reported.
Among the organizers of the project are sports journalist Alexander Karakolev, sports journalist and historian Anatoli Petrov and Petko Pavlov, manager of “Sportni imoti”, football referee and sports journalist.
“We need a little more support, we are almost at the finish line. We have an approved 3D project of a statue that will be cast in bronze. It will be executed by Associate Professor Nikolay Nenov from Varna. About 15 thousand BGN are needed to complete the monument”. said Karakolev.
“Trifon Ivanov means a lot not only for Veliko Tarnovo, but also for the whole of Bulgaria. He was a man who brought people together. Nowadays, Bulgarians are divided on various occasions, which is not good, and people like him should be sought. People don’t forget it. The children, all who pass by the stadium, will be able to see an example of goodness”, believes Petrov.
According to Pavlov, repeating the success of the national football team from 1994 largely depends on “how we will show our young athletes today the history”. “This monument will be a very good illustration of our respect and attitude towards Trifon Ivanov”, he pointed out.
