The duo made up of Noslen Díaz from Artemisa and Jorge Luis Alayo from Villa Clara not only won the gold medal in the North, Central America and the Caribbean (Norceca) Beach Volleyball tournament, based in the Dominican Republic, but also their ticket to the World Championship 2023 in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
The sand courts designed on Los Corales beach, in the famous tourist region of Punta Cana, witnessed a victory that only took 26 minutes, that of the Cuban duo over the Nicaraguan duo of Rubén Mora and Dany López, in only two sets of 21-12 and 21-10.
Before, those from the largest of the Antilles had defeated Garrett Bucklin and Robert Cronshaw, from the US Virgin Islands. After beating them in the first set 21-15, they fell in the second 16-21, but fought back in the decider 15-10. And in the semifinal they whitewashed 2-0 (21-15 and 21-13) against Samuel Schatchter and Daniel Dearing, from Canada.
The bronze remained in the hands of the Canadian duo, due to the non-presentation of the duo of Andrew Benesh and Miles Partain (United States), as Benesh was injured.
Thirteen countries fought for four tickets to the World Cup, which will be held in October. The Cuban duo and those from Nicaragua, Canada and the United States obtained it.
