The police will investigate the sudden death of Professor Mario Mitov, a teacher at the “N. Rilski” SSU in Blagoevgrad. He died suddenly at his home on March 18. His relatives postponed the funeral and insisted on an autopsy, which determined the cause of death to be internal craniocerebral trauma. It could have been caused by a fall or impact, but investigators will have to determine what it was.

The prosecutor’s office has initiated pre-trial proceedings for causing death due to negligence as a result of intentionally inflicted bodily harm, the state prosecution announced. His relatives, relatives and acquaintances with whom he has been in contact in recent days are being interrogated.

His death was announced by his colleagues from the “Chemistry” department of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.

Prof. Mitov was born on March 2, 1963 in the town of Svishtov. He graduated with honors as a chemical engineer majoring in “Electrochemical productions and current sources” at VHTI – Sofia in 1985. In 2000, he defended his dissertation for the acquisition of the Doctorate of the National Academy of Sciences on the topic “Electrochemical behavior of nanoparticles obtained through borohydride reduction”. In 2007, he won a competition for an associate professor, and in 2012 he was elected full professor of “General and Inorganic Chemistry” at the Department of “Chemistry” of Southwestern University.
Prof. Mitov gave lectures on “General and Inorganic Chemistry”, “Physical Chemistry”, “Electrochemistry” and other specialized courses at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of Southwestern University, of which he was the deputy dean. He has participated in numerous national and international scientific forums, author and co-author of more than 110 scientific publications, widely reflected in the world scientific literature.
