These accessories allow you to recharge the internal battery of devices with movement

In the world of wireless keyboards and mice we basically find two alternatives: those that work with rechargeable batteries those that need batteries. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, if we are running out of battery on a Magic Keyboard we can continue using it while it charges, something almost impossible with the Magic Mouse.

Lenovo wants to bring a third option to the desktop. It is a mechanically powered combo of accessories. This proposal completely eliminates the need to replace batteries or charge the device. Instead, it presents a rather curious integrated system that incorporates a century-old concept. Let’s see its details:

Keyboard with dial, mouse with crank

When we talk about mechanical power devices, we might think that they work simply by using them. Although this would be an ideal solution, what Lenovo proposes is something different. The keyboard, in the best gaming style and with RGB lighting, has a small dial at the top left that we can use to recharge its internal battery.

The Chinese brand claims that moving the dial for five minutes generates enough energy to use the device for 30 minutes. There is certainly no space for a dial on the mouse, so the engineers came up with the idea of incorporating a crank that unfolds from the bottom and works in exactly the same way.

The accessory set has been dubbed the Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo. As the name suggests, the keyboard also features a small photovoltaic panel that can help charge the battery when the keyboard is powered on. exposed to the sun’s rays. We are not sure, however, how long this method takes to obtain a minimum charge.

The devices can be connected to any compatible computer or device via an included 2.5GHz USB receiver or via Bluetooth connection. If you’re wondering where you can buy the combo, the answer is that, at least for now, it’s a proof of concept that won’t be available for sale to the public.
