The CVC has announced the winners of its annual environmental carol and nativity scene competitions, which raise awareness of biodiversity and sustainability in the region. The call attracted great participation, with 15 Christmas carols and about 30 nativity scenes from different municipalities in Valle del Cauca.

In an emotional ceremony, the CVC revealed the winner of the 2024 environmental carol competition, a beautiful piece of music that pays tribute to the biodiversity of Valle del Cauca, specifically its wetlands and the birds of Jamundí.
“‘Nollaig gái’, the name of the winning carol, reflects the natural wealth of the region, fusing Christmas music with a clear message about the importance of preserving our natural resources for future generations,” highlighted Marco Antonio Suárez Gutiérrez, general director of the CVC.
For her part, Alejandra Vargas, singer of Alena Electric Group, the winning carol showed that they had great expectations for the competition. “We are a group that plays pop fusion, but we understood the call and decided to take on the challenge, because we always want to leave a positive message with our music, so what better than to do it for this Christmas season as well. So in two weeks we put the whole project in motion and it makes us very happy to know that we are the winners.”
In the nativity scene category, recognition was awarded to Mónica Ordoñez, who created a masterpiece entitled ‘Celebration of Birth’ using scouring pads. Their creativity and commitment to the environment was reflected in this project, which not only reflects the essence of Christmas, but also invites consideration of sustainability and the use of recycled materials.
“We found out about this CVC competition on Instagram and together with my daughter Gabriela, we set ourselves the task of making this nativity scene we called ‘Let’s recycle for a better life’, where we use boards from bottle containers, cans, scouring pads. and also the little hair on the pussy,” said Luz Marina Castrillón, second place winner in the crib category and from the Floralia neighborhood in Cali.
