They call to celebrate the International Museum Day in La Laguna

Established on May 18, 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), International Museum Day is a commemoration whose objective is to raise awareness of the importance of these venues for cultural exchange and enrichment. On this date, various activities are usually organized on the same day or throughout the week.

According to data provided by the ICOM page, in 2022 the participation of 37,000 museums in 158 countries and territories around the world was registered.

It highlights that since 2020, International Museum Day supports some of the points contained in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In 2023, the agenda will focus on global health and well-being, climate action, and life on land.

Within this framework, 18 lagoon enclosures (between municipal, state, federal and private) will come together to celebrate this day with a series of activitiesamong them the presence of the Acertijo Museum, the Cotton Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Francisco Villa National Museum and the Northern Division (Hacienda La Loma), the Arocena Museum, the Historical Museum of the Casa del Cerro City, the Jesús González Museum Herrera, Casa Mudéjar Cultural Center, Canal de la Perla, Sports Gallery, Chalet Gorosave Historical Museum of the City, Plazuela Juárez, Railway Museum, Francisco Sarabia Tinoco International Museum, Metals Museum, Currency Museum, Regional Museum of La Laguna, Museum of the Revolution, Planetarium Torreón and Plaza Cuatro Caminos.

At a press conference held this Wednesday morning, representatives of these museums shared the details of the activities that will take place in La Laguna next weekin which they hope to reach the figure of 20 thousand users.

The inauguration of the celebrations will take place on May 13 at 5:00 p.m. in the main atrium of Plaza Cuatro Caminos. In that same place, a collective exhibition will be set up, called Window towards sustainability, with which It is expected that the public will turn to see the museums thanks to an immersive experience on an eight-meter screenbased on virtual tours made within the enclosures.

Among the great offer for that week there are conferences, courses, workshops, artistic dance, music and theater presentations, film projections, and other activities that can be visited by families from La Laguna. The museums also indicated the availability of a map for the tours and the availability of stickers when visiting each site.

Finally, the closing will take place on May 21 in two ceremonies. The first one from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Plazuela Juárez, where It will also be used to say goodbye to the exhibition The Prado Museum in Torreón. While the second will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the main atrium of Plaza Cuatro Caminos.
