Turkish police teams have detained a fighter from the Islamic State (Daesh) jihadist group who was preparing an attack in Istanbul, Turkish state television TRT-Haber reports.

The jihadist Ahmet Fatrawi, who was preparing to carry out an action in Istanbul on the instructions of the terrorist organization Daesh, was captured during an operation by the Istanbul police.

Fatrawi was found to have undergone Daesh training and spent time in Syria. He crossed from Syria to Turkey illegally.

In Turkey, he managed to reach Istanbul, where his contacts with the Islamic State continued.

The police in the metropolis have found that he is preparing an attack. After his location was discovered, an operation was organized to arrest him, writes BTA.

In 2013, Turkey was one of the first countries to include the Islamic State in its list of terrorist organizations. Since then, the country has been repeatedly targeted by the group, with at least ten suicide attacks, seven bomb attacks and four armed attacks, killing at least 300 people and injuring hundreds more.
