Today, police officers found 18 drivers of motor vehicles who drove after consuming alcohol, and another 18 – under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues. This is reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on its website. Seven of the drivers refused to be tested for alcohol or drug use.
As part of the specialized police operation ordered to comply with the Road Traffic Act, 11,679 motor vehicles were checked, and 13,486 drivers and passengers were checked.
3459 slips and 747 acts for established administrative violations were drawn up. Emphasis in the action is the prohibition of driving by drivers who have consumed alcohol, narcotic substances and/or their analogues, as well as driving of motor vehicles by unlicensed drivers.
On August 1, a car crashed at a tram stop in the capital, and five people were injured as a result of the accident. Yesterday, the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted the driver of the car. He is charged with causing grievous bodily harm in a speeding accident while driving after using cocaine.
