This June 8, the day the Church celebrates the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, bishops from different Dioceses of Bolivia took the opportunity to illuminate the situation in the country through the mystery of the Eucharist.

This was the case of the Archdiocese of Sucre, where the central Mass was presided over by the local Archbishop and vice president of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Ricardo Centellas.

In this context, he referred to the social inequality that “is getting bigger” in Bolivia. “A few have the opportunities and the economy they want, and the vast majority don’t.”

“One of the signs of poverty is unemployment, because the spirit of sharing life so that everyone can live with dignity is very small,” he added.

Before a large audience, the prelate encouraged to follow the teachings of Jesus, especially in that Eucharistic spirit of sharing and giving one’s life for others, and not staying in individualism, “which kills our human journey.”

For this reason, he called to reaffirm faith in Jesus the Eucharist and the commitment to live according to his style.

The Archbishop of Santa Cruz, Msgr. René Leigue Cesarí, for his part, presided over the Eucharist in the atrium of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and dedicated part of his Corpus Christi message to warning about the social problems that affect Bolivia, calling the same time to put God in the first place.

“Every day there is death, every day there is violence, abuse, every day we hear that we do not respect each other. If we are seeing all that, it is because we are not fulfilling what the Lord tells us. So I think we are on the wrong path, ”he acknowledged.

“Are we fulfilling the commandments of the Lord or are we putting it aside? Is he the first God in our life? Or are my things first, and then I do have time for God?” asked the prelate.

In response to this situation, he asked to “return to the path of Christ.”

For his part, the Archbishop of Cochabamba, Mons. Óscar Aparicio, invited families to receive the “love of the Lord” that is “present at all times.”

“We know that God accompanies us and the Spirit is present and walks with us. We are not alone, we are not abandoned.”

In Potosí, the Mass was presided over by Bishop Renán Aguilera, who considered that unity and communion are “pending issues to be overcome” by Bolivians.

In the aforementioned dioceses and in other regions of the country, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi was a day of great devotion, with different celebrations, processions with the Blessed Sacrament and Masses.
