The parents and other relatives of the deceased student filed a lawsuit in the civil court, seeking compensation from her killers for mental anguish

The parents and other relatives of the deceased Eleni Topaloudis, who lost her life at the hands of two young men in Rhodes, are claiming a large compensation amounting to almost 1,000,000 euros.

The student’s parents, her brother and four other relatives filed a lawsuit in the civil court, seeking compensation of 980,000 euros from her killers for mental anguish. In the document they emphasize that the young men, who have been convicted of the murder that shocked the whole of Greece, committed the rape and murder together and with intent. They tortured the 21-year-old for three consecutive hours, then cleaned the apartment and took her to a deserted location, where they threw her alive into the sea, with the aim of disposing of her body. At the same time, they claim that the responsibility for the murder is also borne by the fathers of the two perpetrators.

According to the Rhodes newspaper “dimokratiki”, last Tuesday, March 26, the deadline for submission of proposals to the Single-Member Court of First Instance of Rhodes expired, so that they could be included in the case file formed after a lawsuit against the two murderers of Eleni Topaloudis and their fathers submitted by the relatives her. It is recalled that the two young murderers were finally sentenced without any mitigating circumstances by the First Mixed Court of Appeal of Athens to life imprisonment for the homicide in a calm state of mind and to 15 years for the gang rape of Eleni Topaloudis. They performed the above acts in a calm state of mind. They had been sentenced with the same sentence at first instance by the Mixed Jury Court.

According to the relatives of the 21-year-old, the lawsuit against the fathers of the murderers is based on the fact that the father of one “with his actions and omissions, both before and after the murder of Eleni, collaborated and assisted in the criminal actions of his son , whom she not only neglected to supervise, knowing of his violent character until the day of his criminal acts, but allowed him on that day to have the use of his car, which was seized as an instrument of crime, according to the above final conviction”.

As far as the father of the second murderer is concerned, the relatives of the unfortunate Eleni develop a similar reasoning about non-existent custody, which is reinforced by the fact that “three days later, the defendant’s son committed another rape of a disabled girl”. In the meantime, the appeal brought by the two convicts from the Court of Appeal is pending before the Supreme Court.
