Old Cuscatlán, La Libertad. At least one worker died this Wednesday morning in a construction that a company is carrying out in the exclusive Santa Elena residential area, after a slope gave way, an event that was recorded by workers.
The worker died due to the injuries he suffered during the collapse; Several workers who realized the imminent danger whistled and shouted to warn those at the bottom of the collapse zone, but, apparently, they were not heard due to the distance.
The injured were treated and transferred to hospital centers by company ambulances, as well as by emergency services that attended the scene of the accident.
Arrests
The authorities reported that due to the possible negligence of those responsible for the work, Carlos Alberto Landaverde, supervisor of the work, has been arrested; Onasis Valdemar Parada, project supervisor; René Edgardo Martínez and Miguel Ángel Alas, superintendents of the work; and Jorge Alberto Funes Romero, supervisory manager.
They will be accused of negligent homicide to the detriment of one worker, negligent injuries to 12 more, and violation of safety measures. “We must think about the workers,” said the director of the National Civil Police, Mauricio Arriaza Chicas.
