They deliver meals to their homes: 16 without pay for two months – Bolzano

BOLZANO. For two months they continued to bring meals to your home, without being paid. So they turned to the union. These are 16 employees of the Egea Global Service company, in charge of the home meal delivery service for the elderly and disabled in Bolzano, a service contracted by Assb. «Despite the non-payment of wages for October and November 2024 and the thirteenth month’s salary, they still guaranteed the service», Filcams and the Civil Service of the CGIL denounce. The reply comes from Assb. «We will carry out timely checks and pay the salaries that have not been paid by this cooperative in temporary association. We will respond and guarantee workers’ rights. It is a very unpleasant and sad situation for them”, said the director Liliana Di Fede.

Luigi Liguoria Filcams official, explains that «from 2020 to 2023 the service was managed by a temporary association of companies (ATI). The contract has been extended until November 19th. From the following day the contract was assigned to the Serenissima Ristorazione company, which first prepared the meals, while the delivery was managed under subcontracting by Egea”. The union hopes “that Assb will do its part”. Every day, including Sunday, the 16 employees bring 280 meals home. Some are very young. The CGIL reports that “they are exhausted, they are no longer able to meet their needs due to lack of pay”. Their request «to those responsible jointly and severally – underlines the CGIL – is to pay them their dues. This is the Serenissima Ristorazione company which deals with the preparation of meals and the client Assb”. The social services company is available. However, the director specifies that her current supplier is Serenissima. «We were told not long ago – he confirms – that the cooperative, which is not a local coop (it is based in Cosenza, ed.) and was in a joint venture with Serenissima, had not paid its employees. We understand that for November the payment was advanced by Serenissima, which I thank. I feel sorry for the employees: they provided a fundamental service even though they were not paid. Assb will intervene. It will only take a few days of procedure, we are not able to pay salaries directly.”
