The family of a 15-year-old Cuban boy, identified as Damián, raised their voice against impunity in the case of the teenager, who was brutally stabbed on February 10 in Pinar del Río.
According to the complaint made by Internet user Odelaisy Ríos Sotolongo on Facebook, Damián was attacked by two individuals, identified as Lesma and another whose name is similar to the first, in the Carlos Manuel neighborhood of the capital of Pinar del Río.
The young man was rushed to the Old Hospital of Pinar del Río, where, unfortunately, the doctors did not detect a perforation in his colon during the surgical intervention.
Subsequently, he was transferred to the Pediatric Hospital, where he began a difficult medical odyssey, facing multiple operations due to complications such as peritonitis and intestinal problems.
The family’s indignation increases when they point out that, despite having filed the complaint, the police authorities opened the case for “minor injuries”, without delving into the victim’s condition.
Even more worrying is the fact that one of the main attackers has managed to leave the country, despite warnings to the police. This event raises suspicions about possible complicity or corruption in the judicial system.
As if that were not enough, the other individual involved in the attack remains at large, without having been arrested so far. Given this situation, Damián’s family demands that justice be done for his son, who continues to be hospitalized and fighting for his recovery.
This case is not an isolated incident in Cuba, where impunity prevails amid a growing wave of violence.
