Sonia Álvarez Campillo, mother of the political prisoner of 11J, Saylí Navarrodenounced that the Castro dictatorship denied his daughter the penal benefits that correspond to her by law.

The complaint comes after the activist’s mother went to visit her in the La Bellotex women’s prison in the city of Matanzas.

In that sense, he noted that Saylí Navarro informed him that Lieutenant Colonel Marta Cristina Hernández told him that this year he does not have any of the 60 days that must be reduced for each year.

“Saylí was telling me that the head of the prison, Lieutenant Colonel Marta Cristina Hernández Bacallao, told her that this year she does not have any of the 60 days that must be reduced each year. Last year they reduced her to only 30 because she does not participate in any activity, not even politics, nor does she go to school,” Álvarez Campillo informed Martí News.

The mother of the Cuban opponent pointed out that her daughter does not participate in any activities inside the prison due to the fact that she is there by her will. “It was forced because here we cannot demonstrate against the regime,” he added.

It is important to mention that the Regulations of the Cuban Penitentiary System establish that inmates have the right to a reduction of up to 60 days per year of sentence served, as long as they maintain “good conduct and results achieved in educational activity.”

It is worth remembering that Saylí Navarro, daughter of the opponent, promoter of Cuba Decide and president of the Party for Democracy “Pedro Luis Boitel”, Félix Navarro Rodríguez, was arrested along with her father in Perico, province of Matanzas, in the context of the historic anti-government protests of July 11, 2021.
