After the dancer suffered complications, in February this year she needed to undergo a new surgery. In addition to her, the family members were informed that it would be necessary to remove the entire uterus of the patient.
“It was awful, it’s been awful. In fact, they destroyed my life, my career, they destroyed my dream of being a mother,” she said.
Amputation of the left arm
According to family members, the hairdresser had necrotic fingers – when there is an accumulation of dead cells, tissue and cell waste. Then she had her left hand bandaged.
After questioning the doctors, Ana Maria dos Santos Silva, mother of the passista, said that she was advised to make a quick decision, because, according to the institution, Alessandra was at risk of death.
“I asked why they bandaged her hand, and they said it was very cold there. They didn’t let us see or take pictures. They said we would have to make a very quick decision because she could die,” she said.
At the time, Alessandra was transferred to Iecac (State Institute of Cardiology Aloysio de Castro), in Humaitá, in the south zone, after ten days of hospitalization. She spent about two months between one hospital and another and, to this day, she doesn’t know what really happened.
“What makes me most indignant is the neglect. At no time did they come to me to give me an explanation,” she said.
Response from the Heloneida Studart Women’s Hospital
In a statement, the health foundation said it would open an investigation to find out what happened at the Heloneida Studart Women’s Hospital.
The Grande Rio samba school also spoke out, saying that it is closely following the case of passista Alessandra and that it has offered all the necessary support to her and her family.
The case was registered at the 64th DP (São João de Meriti).
