Raleigh.- The family of Hispanic officer Gabriel Torres, murdered on October 13, 2022 in the middle of a massacre in Raleigh, received a home free of mortgages.

“The Tunnel to Towers Foundation welcomes the family of Raleigh Police Officer Gabriel Torres to their new mortgage-free home,” the description reads.

The 29-year-old police officer was of Puerto Rican origin and was one of five people killed in the Hedingham neighborhood in the so-called Raleigh Massacre.

The other victims who lost their lives were identified as Nicole Conners, 52; Susan Karnatz, 49; María Mariscal, 35, and James Roger Thompson, 16.

The latter is the brother of the author of the massacre, Austin Thompson, 15 years old.

Torres was killed on his way to start his shift. He leaves behind his wife Jasmin and his daughter Layla. The officer had 18 months of service with the Raleigh Police Department. Before he enlisted in the United States Marines.

His military awards include a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He also received a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
