Its objective was to offer a dialogue on the subject through a historical journey

This Friday, May 19, Dr. Carlos Paúl Ávalos Soto gave a conference entitled “The philosophy of contemporary science”, in Auditorium 1 of the Hugo Gutiérrez Vega Library of the University Center of the South (CUSur). Ávalos Soto is a Master in History from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, and a PhD from the Iberoamerican University of Mexico City.

The doctor began by explaining the concept of history and philosophy and pointed out that his conference aims to offer a dialogue related to the philosophy of science, taking a historical tour of the subject.

He indicated that in the 19th century history began to be imagined as a course that is traced from the events of human beings and society, and even before that, it was very difficult to name it a philosophy of history, since it was called , “in any case, history of the saints.”

He mentioned some historians, such as Herodotus, and explained that previously there was no perspective or ideology that presented history as some kind of fundamental concept or category of existential order of the human being. “When we talk about philosophy we are practically talking about a modern perspective,” he said.

He pointed out that just like philosophy, the philosophy of science is also a modern field, since before there was no conceptual denomination for it. And it was thanks to political, technological, historical events and perspectives that the fact of saying that science also has a philosophical, theoretical and humanistic background was accentuated.

He spoke about the sociologist Niklas Luhmann, who dedicated himself to formulating the general theory of social systems. Likewise, he pointed out that with the arrival of the Hellenistic era, society began to explain reality, no longer based on mythological relationships, but with other explanations.

According to Ávalos Soto, it is a subsystem of society that has its own structures for its own self-reproduction, and that mates with others according to what their structures mark.

Finally, the doctor listened to comments and resolved some doubts from the students of the university center
