A jury made up of renowned colleagues from Cuban Television awarded the prizes of the UPEC Branch Competition “Image in the News”, for the work of the year 2022.
Due to the rigor of its content of great social impact, due to the language used in the dialogue and for conveying sensitivity, it was decided to award the Prize in the Interview genre to the one conducted with the Deputy Prime Minister, Inés María Chapman, by the journalist Arlette Vasallo, from Canal Caribe.
For following up on a community, supportive project, and amplifying its humanist values through direct language using various sources, adequate editing of own sounds and other graphic resources, the Reporting Prize was awarded to the work “Delivery of a donation to the Quiñones Community, Bahía Honda, Pinar del Río”, carried out by the journalist Esther Lilian González, from Canal Caribe.
For the good use of archival material, the good selection of resources for the soundtrack and the research work to argue the text of the note, the journalist Valia Marquínez Sam, from Cubavisión Internacional, received the Prize in the Information genre, with the work “Cuba: tangible achievements in the protection of children.”
For the coherence in the follow-up of the news event and for approaching it from its different angles, for using the diversity of journalistic genres in each case with the necessary narrative resources, for the creativity achieved in each installment, the Special Prize is awarded to the series “Events after the explosion of the Saratoga Hotel”, directed by Abdiel Bermúdez Bermúdez, from Canal Caribe.
The jury, made up of Adán Morell, Lázaro Bryan, Raúl Blanco Urra and chaired by Marisela Recasens, exhaustively analyzed the proposals presented and issued its decision unanimously.
