The president of the Gypsy National Self-Government of Szeged contacted our newspaper saying that there is something very wrong in the IKV building at 8 Kolozsvári tér. Mihály Nagy brought us together with Zsuzsanna Kolompár, who lives in the apartment with her little daughter. The woman told us that there are constant problems in the house, with a family living there without legal title. He said that they were doing drugs and being loud, and they were breaking and smashing in the building. They had set arson before, and the annex burned down. The problem got so bad that one night in July, the firefighters and the police had to be called again, because unknown people damaged the gas line belonging to the woman’s apartment. Because of this, they have not been able to cook or heat the apartment since then. However, restoring the service is not as easy as you might think. The legal tussle about who should do what started. The MVM would obviously like someone to pay the costs of restoration and other costs that arise in such cases. However, the Kolompás – who also filed a police report – do not have the money for this. In addition, according to them, the legislation states that the operator, i.e. IKV, should take care of the “permanent operational condition of the central equipment” of the building (including the gas pipeline).
“As you know, it was not me or my daughter who damaged the line, it was not our fault that the service stopped, so the troubleshooting and the payment of the associated costs, as well as the completion of the work requested by the MVM, which requires a substantial amount of money, are not can be our task. That is why I am asking you to kindly carry out the actions requested by the MVM and necessary to restore the gas service at your own expense.”
This is what Zsuzsanna Kolompár wrote to the IKV, but there is no progress in the matter so far. The family is currently living in the cold on Kolozsvári Square.
The city-owned company did so much as to evict the mischievous company, but they don’t mean much either, because they keep coming back to the property.
