A fire broke out in Matoto Fassa, not far from the Bonagui brewery on the afternoon of Monday, September 16, 2024. On site, the findings are visibly alarming. Two buildings with several rooms have been emptied of their contents. Everything suggests that it is a short circuit.
“I was in the house when I heard alarms indicating a fire in the other building. The neighbors were able to rescue me, my sister and the children in the nick of time. All the doors were closed in the building next door where the fire broke out. So we couldn’t save the things that were there. There was no fire in the house but we can’t pinpoint a source but it’s possible that it was the electricity. Thank God, there was no loss of life,” said the mother.
It took the help of citizens who were the first responders at the scene of the fire.
At the scene, firefighters were able to open the locked doors and bring the fire under control. The damage is enormous.
“It’s hard to tell you the extent of the damage, but one thing is certain: they lost everything. We’re dealing with a fire that’s affecting many rooms that are isolated. We were forced to remove the roofs to make it easier to water them in order to calm the fire,” said the firefighter.
It should be remembered that this is the second case in this area in a few weeks.
