A US federal judge in Atlanta has ordered Donald Trump and his team to stop using the song Hold On, I’m Coming in his campaign, while the family of one of the co-authors of the single is suing, the Associated Press reported.

Last month, the heirs of Isaac Hayes Jr. filed a lawsuit alleging that Trump, his staff and several of his allies violated copyright and should pay damages.

After hearing the heirs’ motion for an emergency preliminary ruling, Judge Thomas Thrash ruled that Donald Trump must stop using the song. However, the magistrate rejected the request to have all existing videos of Hold On, I’m Coming taken down.

Hayes, who died in 2008 aged 65, and David Porter co-wrote Hold On, I’m Coming, a 1966 hit for soul duo Sam and Dave.

Ronald Coleman, Trump’s lawyer, told reporters after the court hearing that the staff of the US presidential candidate from the Republican Party had already agreed not to use the song in the future, writes BTA.

A week ago, the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA also demanded that Trump stop using their songs during his election campaign.

According to the band’s record company, Universal Music Publishing AB and Polar Music International AB, they did not receive an application for permission and accordingly did not grant a license to use ABBA’s music at Trump’s events, writes Nova.

Among the ABBA hits played at the rallies were “The Winner Takes It All” and “Money, Money, Money”. It happened during a Trump rally in Minnesota, a state with a large percentage of Swedish descendants.
