With the objective of students becoming essential actors in the protection of ecosystems, the Ministry of Environment and Education presented the “Trees for El Salvador” initiative, with students from educational centers in the west of the country.
“Each species of tree that we will deliver in this phase has been carefully selected to fulfill a specific role in the ecosystem, taking into account the climatic conditions,” said Minister López, during the presentation of the project at the Cantón Cara Sucia National Institute.
The initiative seeks for each participating student to receive a native tree to plant and care for in their home during the next 12 months, to emphasize and promote the importance of caring for the country’s natural resources, as part of the students’ training.
With “Trees for El Salvador”, 36,000 trees of different species will be delivered to students from 133 educational centers in Ahuachapán, Sonsonate and Santa Ana. Today, at the National Institute of Cara Sucia Canton, the delivery begins with the distribution of 2,500 trees.
