Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado will be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this Friday at an event at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora in Miami.

Machado was chosen by a group of academic leaders who are “qualified nominators” under the Nobel Foundation’s rules, because they believe she has more to offer than she has earned.

The outstanding leader of Venezuela will be nominated for her courageous fight in defense of democracy and freedom in Venezuela, which has earned her this international distinction.

The support for the nomination will coincide with a “worldwide” rally called by Machado on Saturday, August 17, aimed at confirming the victory of opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia in last Sunday’s elections. August 28. July in Venezuela.

On 28 July, the National Electoral Council (CNE) declared Nicolás Maduro the winner of the election with 52% of the vote amid serious allegations of fraud.
