The wrestler up to 63 kg Abu-Muslim Amaev has a chance for a bronze medal at the World Championships in the non-Olympic categories in Tirana, Albania. The national team started with a loss – a draw against Nihat Mamadli (Azerbaijan), but the European men’s champion of this season reached the final and gave our national team a second chance in the repechage for bronze on Tuesday.

In the classical style, Ivo Iliev (72 kg) and Rosian Dermanski (82 kg) dropped out of the competition after losses in the first round. Iliev was stopped by Nikita Murashka (Russia), and Dermansky by another representative of “sbornaya” – Islam Aliyev – 1:3.
Their rivals suffered a defeat in the next round and the Bulgarian participation ended.

Evelina Nikolova will be our only female representative at the world championships.

The Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020 will compete against Poland’s Magdalena Glodek in the category up to 59 kg.

Her rival is second in the world and Europe under 23 two seasons ago.

Our other representative Irena Binkova (55 kg) was injured in one of the last training sessions and dropped out of the competition in the Albanian capital.

The women’s matches start on Tuesday at 11.30am our time.
