A team from the CAVIG Fiscal Unit, led by prosecutor Mario Panetta and accompanied by members of the San Juan Police, raided the headquarters of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo this Friday afternoon.

As this newspaper was able to find out, the maneuver they are carrying out aims to gather possible data that can contribute to the investigation carried out for the complaint against the priest Walter Bustos. The religious is accused of sexually abusing a child under 15 years of age, in 2017, in Valle Fértil.

As stated in the complaint later ratified in a hearing at CAVIG, the alleged victim had had sexual encounters with the priest, an act totally punishable due to the vulnerability that the minor’s age implies.

For this reason, the priest is serving 45 days in pretrial detention that, days ago, Judge Sánz dictated.

In addition, the priest Bustos was already sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for another sexual abuse of a minor, while he had also been tried for allegedly abusing that boy’s brother, but for that other case he was acquitted by the benefit of the doubt.
