The head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Federica Mogherini, announced that negotiations have already concluded and the nuclear agreement has been reached to ensure that Iran does not manufacture nuclear weapons.
“Made. We have the agreement,” indicated the Italian diplomat through the social network Twitter.
Mogherini thus confirmed the understanding, after almost two years of negotiations, to limit the Iranian atomic program so that it cannot produce weapons, while lifting the sanctions that strangle that country’s economy.
The French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, assured, for his part, that the agreement is “historic”, in addition to highlighting that “it limits Iran’s nuclear capabilities” and that “it allows the Islamic Republic to reintegrate into the international community.” ”.
He also explained to the press that, according to the conditions of the agreement, over ten years Iran will need at least twelve months to accumulate the material necessary for a nuclear weapon.
On the other hand, Fabius explained that the sanctions against Iran will be lifted “step by step” and that the parties to the agreement will always continue to be “vigilant” so that the money that Tehran will obtain does not end up financing terrorist activities.
However, he stressed that the reintegration of Iran into the international community will allow companies from his country to do business.
Regarding the UN Security Council resolution that should support this agreement, Fabius announced that it will be approved in the “coming days” in New York.
Regarding the lifting of the embargo on conventional arms, the head of French diplomacy said that the agreement contemplates extending this measure for five more years.
