The deputy head of DANS, Petar Petrov, was dismissed at the first regular meeting of the caretaker government. His mandate was terminated early at the request of the head of the agency, Plamen Tonchev. Motives are not given.
Before being appointed to this post by the “Denkov” cabinet on July 27, 2023, Petar Petrov was an MP from “We Continue the Change”. He entered the current parliament when Lena Borislavova refused to be an MP.
For over 17 years, he worked in the National Security Service – Ministry of the Interior, and in the National Security Service. For several months he was an adviser to Kiril Petkov when he was prime minister. It was unofficially rumored that the PP-DB was preparing him to be the head of the DANS after the reform, which, however, the president, as well as GERB and DPS, spoke out against.

I am 100% convinced that Zhivko Kotsev was not involved in criminal activity, said the other co-chairman of PP-DB Atanas Atanasov. The prosecutor’s office has turned into a “factory for kompromat”. And he warned again that a time will come when “it will become clear what Kalin Stoyanov’s connections are with these people they call smugglers”.
