NOTICIACRISTIANA.COM.- During the day at least two deaths belonging to the Beryl system. A Houston-area man died after a tree fell on his home in Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
“Tragic,” the Harris County sheriff wrote on social media. “A tree fell on a house and a man was trapped under the rubble.”
According to Gonzalez, the 53-year-old man was sitting in the house with his family, “weathering the storm” when an oak tree fell on the roof, causing the structure to collapse.
Another victim was a 74-year-old woman. Police went to the woman’s house after receiving a report that a tree had fallen through the roof of the house. “We are sorry to report that the death of the 74-year-old victim has been confirmed,” the post says.
In the final hours
Over the past few hours, Beryl has produced at least three simultaneous tornadoes near the Texas-Louisiana border. One of them is a “large and very dangerous tornado”, warned the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The tornado, located 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Converse, Louisiana, prompted an extremely dangerous situation warning from the NWS:
“You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris can be fatal to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. “Extensive damage to homes, businesses and vehicles is likely and total destruction is possible.”
Additional tornadoes are possible throughout the evening as Beryl moves north across East Texas.
