Users of the Banplus and Mercantil banks reported on social networks that during the afternoon of Saturday, April 29, they presented failures to be able to carry out mobile payment operations. According to the reports, both the application and the web platform do not allow this type of operation to proceed.

Mercantil explained in its official Twitter account that the service is affected by an “interconnection” problem. “Our customers are reminded that they have the immediate transfer service available as an alternative,” the bank wrote on social networks.

Banplus indicated that they were reviewing the platform to solve the flaw that prevents their customers from making mobile payments.

“We are working on our technological platform in order to provide you with the best service, which will be restored shortly, we offer our apologies for the inconvenience caused,” the company notified.

Hours later, Banplus reported that it had already resolved the failure in its mobile payment and ATM services:

“The incident presented by Conexus has been resolved, we apologize for the inconvenience caused.”

What is a mobile payment?

A mobile payment is a financial transaction system that allows users to make payments and transfers through their mobile devices. In this system, money is transferred from one bank account to another through a mobile application immediately.

Clients of the three banking entities affirmed through social networks that the failures began approximately after noon on Saturday, April 29.

Citizens allege that the inconveniences cause that it is not possible to log into the accounts and, once it is possible to enter, it does not allow any type of movement.

“Gentlemen of Banesco, why can’t you make a mobile payment? Will it be customary every Saturday?” wrote a user who identifies himself as Mario on Twitter.

“Fortnight and bridge. Mercantil had problems all day, ”said Aurelia Pena on her social networks.

“Since yesterday I have been trying to make payments to merchants, banplus and it is unsuccessful. The banks are crazy”, commented a woman with the user @MaliciaRocks.

Bank failures are recurring

Users of several Venezuelan banks report on social networks that the problems on the platforms coincide with the fortnightly payments.

The faults are solved during the day. The entities do not offer many details about the causes that produce the falls in the system.

In September 2021, a failure was recorded on the BDV platform that lasted for more than 100 hours. On that occasion, the users of the bank denounced through Twitter that they could not enter the page or carry out transactions.
