Train traffic has been restored between Dolno Kamartsi and Mirkovo stations after a freight train derailed yesterday. This was announced by BDZ on its website.
Yesterday, five wagons of a private freight train derailed at 2:55 p.m., reported the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRI). Trains were stopped.
Equipment and crews were immediately dispatched to the site to lift the wagons and begin recovery activities. All high-speed trains passing through the Sub-Balkan line, as well as night trains Sofia-Varna-Sofia and Sofia-Burgas-Sofia, were diverted. For passenger trains Sofia-Karlovo-Sofia and Poduyane-Koprivshtitsa, transportation by buses was provided in the section between Mirkovo and Dolno Kamartsi.
According to information on the BDZ website, trains on this line were running late.
The exact reasons for the derailed carriages are still being clarified. The composition consisted of a total of 20 wagons with empty new tanks.
The damage is mainly on the railway.
There were no casualties, Boycho Skrobanski from the National Board for the Investigation of Railway Accidents told BNR yesterday.
