Due to apparent failures in the braking system, the pilot of a Transportes Tropicana bus lost control of the unit and ran over a woman who was walking next to a walkway on the Raúl Aguilar Batres road and 51st street, in zone 11 of Villa Nueva, a fact that remained documented on video.

The Facebook page Noticias 51 SMP published a video in which it is observed how the bus rams the woman and then embeds itself in the catwalk.

The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of Villa Nueva, reported this Thursday, April 20, that the traffic accident occurred southbound.

Henry Quevedo, spokesman for the PMT, reported that it is suspected that the bus, which was heading to the South Coast, its braking system failed and it crashed into a catwalk.

“A bus that was heading towards the South Coast lost its braking system, apparently, and it has embedded itself in the entrance walkway of the Castañas neighborhood,” said Quevedo.

For his part, Amílcar Montejo, Director of Communication of Emetra, said that the fatality was identified as Esmilta Esther Barrios Rodas, 55 years old.

“According to passengers, (the pilot) was already zigzagging before entering the Aguilar Batres road ”, Montejo added.
