Other investigations are underway on reports of attempted scams by street vendors

AOSTA. Two men aged 31 and 40 were arrested on Friday morning by the carabinieri of the Aosta Radiomobile for robbing an elderly man. The latter may not be their only victim.

The two – GC and GS, both resident in Turin and originally from Campania – were blocked on charges of snatching 110 euros from the elderly man after approaching him by proposing to buy fruit and vegetables from their van. They tried to get away on board the vehicle but the military stopped them and took them to the barracks before proceeding with the arrest for aggravated theft.

The episode yesterday morning was noticed by a soldier on free duty who requested the intervention of two colleagues. For some days, however, the carabinieri had been monitoring the presence on the territory of vans selling fruit and vegetables. Recently, in fact, the police have been reported about possible fraud attempts and other suspicious episodes by street vendors. Investigations are now continuing to understand if the sums of money found in the possession of the two arrested come from other victims of theft or scams.
